Hello all, As you all know, the Rocket M series comes in 900Mhz variants as well. A quick reference to the datasheets revealed that the 900Mhz radios also have the tx rates from MCS0 to MCS15. Does that mean if I have a 900Mhz wireless bridge, it can transfer data at 802.11n speeds as well? Correct me if im wrong, but i have always thought that the reason why people chose higher wireless frequencies over lower frequencies (2.4Ghz over 900Mhz) is due to the larger bandwidth and hence faster data rates? Of course, 900Mhz is preferred for NLOS applications as well. On a sidenote. Has anyone ever tried to dismantle the Rocket from its plastic housing? If the radio system allows you to improve the sensitivity by dropping the link speed, you can typically gain 3dB of sensitivity by dropping to half speed. To get maximum throughput, you must have a clear Fresnel Zone (Line-of-Sights is meaningless to RF) and no interference. So, a 900 MHz wireless bridge, set to a 10 MHz channel with a clear FZ and no interference will deliver the same throughput as a 2 GHz wireless bridge under the same conditions. The advantage of the higher frequency bands is that their Fresnel Zone is smaller AND their allowed channel size is larger than when compared to 900 MHz. Would a 900 achieve better range than a 2.4 all else being equal including tx power. You are asking excellent questions.
